People popping in to our pop-up exhibition!
Saturday (Day 7).
Debbie and I arrived back at the studio at around 10.30am after our interview on BBC Radio London and we were pleased to see that the one-day exhibition was open and we already had some visitors.
We weren’t sure what to expect today - we’d invited a number of people locally and we’d also been around Hackney Wick pasting up some posters, but there was no certainty that we’d actually have people turning up. We needn’t have worried—the posters, invites and radio exposure had done the job and we had a healthy flow of visitors throughout the day.
Molly and I were also delighted to welcome some artists who had previously been featured in CC. Magazine including Gustavo Ortiz, Laura Burns, Steph Hartman (from Collage Club LND) and Jodie House who had made the journey all the way from Dorset with her sister!
We also set up a couple of tables at the end of the studio for visitors to make their own collages. THis proved to be very popular and the area was busy throught the day.
It was a great day - the feedback was incredible and a few of the artists made sales as well. However, the most satisfying thing was seeing how the exhibition had come together from a base of nothing just six days previous. It was a moment of collective pride.
Of course, with it being a pop-up exhibition, at the end of the day, we had to pop it down! It was all hands on deck and within an hour and a half, we’d converted the studio back into an empty room - it was like we’d never ben there. But, of course, we had, and without doubt, the week will last long in the memory.
