A great response to our Private View
Friday Evening (Day 6).
It’s been a hectic day and we only finished hanging the exhibition with an hour to spare. I’ve also created a powerpoint presentation of each artist’s work to be projected onto one of the walls. I’ve then had a mad dash back to my airbnb (thankfully, only a minute away from the studio) to get showered and changed. I arrive back just after 7pm and we already have some guests arrived.
Many of the artists have family and friends in London who have made it to the private view, and we also have a steady flow of people from local galleries and design agencies dropping in.
Not long after opening our doors, the gallery is buzzing. The wine and beer is flowing and there’s a great energy in the room. The feedback is extremely positive with many comments about how the group has managed to create such a body of high quality work in just over five days. In total, we’ve collectively created over 250 new pieces of work!
My daughter, Molly, has arrived. As many of you will know, Molly is a key part of the CC. Magazine team, and she’s blown away by the exhibition.
As the event progressed, I took a few moments to stand back, observe the scene and reflect with a huge amount of pride on what we’ve achieved this week. From an original idea a year ago, we’re here and we’ve done it!
The private view runs for over two hours and there’s a collective sense of achievement mixed with a little relief amongst the group. At the end of the evening, we decamp to ‘Unlock’ - a lively pizza restaurant just a minute or two from the studio. It’s been a great day and it’s nice to round it off with a few beers to celebrate.
