GF Smith Challenge
This challenge is all about colour, specifically, the stunningly beautiful colours of GF Smith’s Colorplan range of papers.
When you order the challenge, you will receive a pack of 30 different coloured A5 sheets from the Colorplan range. Your challenge is simply to create a collage with them. It could be a landscape, still life, portrait, poster, abstract or something else. There’s only one rule – you can only use the Colorplan papers to create your collage.
Here are some that really caught our eye in the recent months!

"My goal with the G.F Smith challenge this time around was to give the paper the kind of character I’m usually drawn to in vintage ephemera. Instead of adding anything to the cardstock, I worked with physical processes to create interesting textures. By relying on handling and exposure alone, I was able to mimic the slow decay of time through folding, binding, soaking, staining and burning.
Working with the G.F Smith paper again was a great experience. The paper is high quality and held up remarkably well to very destructive processes. After drying, extinguishing and pressing the paper still had enough integrity to cut strips and paste into the finished works."
